If the plug or port gets hot, smells burnt, or the phone shows a liquid or moisture alert, unplug it and stop charging it by cable, and call the store.
What to know about the iPhone 13
- Lightning or port? A quick test
- Try a cable and adapter that work on another iPhone. If they fail only on your iPhone 13, and a wireless charger still works, the port is the likely cause, and very often it only needs cleaning.
- What to do about a liquid alert
- Apple says to unplug, tap the phone gently against your hand with the connector facing down, and try again after at least 30 minutes, with up to 24 hours to dry fully. Don't use heat, compressed air, a cotton swab, a paper towel, or rice. If the alert keeps coming back once it's dry, bring it in.
- Charge it wirelessly in the meantime
