Signs your iPhone 16 Pro Max screen needs replacing
- Cracked glass while the picture underneath still looks normal
- A dark smudge or dead pixels spreading out from the impact point
- The dimmed Always-On lock screen shows blotches or streaks you don't see when the screen is fully lit
- Green or pink lines across the OLED panel that appeared after a drop
- Touch that misses taps along the thin borders of the 6.9-inch screen

What to know about the iPhone 16 Pro Max
- It doesn't share a screen with older Pro Max models
- At 6.9 inches, the 16 Pro Max screen is larger than the 6.7-inch screens on iPhone 12 through 15 Pro Max, so it needs its own part. If you're not sure which model you have, check Settings > General > About > Model Name.
- Check both screen states after the repair
- On a 16 Pro Max, look at the dimmed Always-On lock screen as well as the fully lit screen once the new screen is on, and tap along the thin borders to make sure touch reaches the edges.
- Camera Control and the Action button aren't part of the screen
- Both are buttons on the frame. If the same drop hit the side of the phone, tell us whether they still click so we look at everything together.

Back up first if the phone still works: Settings > your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now, on Wi-Fi. A computer backup works too.
Have your passcode ready. You'll want it to unlock and check the phone once the new screen is on.
Note what worked before the damage: Face ID, True Tone, the front camera, and touch in every corner. It helps separate old problems from new ones.
If the screen is too broken to back up, tell us. A screen replacement doesn't normally require erasing the phone.
