What to know about the iPhone 8 Plus

The Home button moves to the new screen
On the iPhone 8 Plus, the Home button sits on the screen assembly and is moved over to the new screen during the repair. Tell us if it was already acting up so we look at both.
LCD damage looks different from OLED damage
An LCD uses a backlight behind the image, so damage often shows up as white pressure marks or uneven brightness rather than the spreading black blotches on OLED phones.
Check brightness and touch after the repair
Once the new screen is on, slide the brightness from low to high and tap in every corner to be sure the whole 5.5-inch panel responds.

Before you bring it in

Show the 4 steps
  1. Back up first if the phone still works: Settings > your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now, on Wi-Fi. A computer backup works too.

  2. Have your passcode ready. You'll want it to unlock and check the phone once the new screen is on.

  3. Note what worked before the damage: Face ID, True Tone, the front camera, and touch in every corner. It helps separate old problems from new ones.

  4. If the screen is too broken to back up, tell us. A screen replacement doesn't normally require erasing the phone.
