- The XS Max is one of the last iPhones with 3D Touch, which senses how hard you press the screen. After the repair, try a firm press on an app icon to be sure it responds the same way.
- Check the notch area and brightness after the repair
- Once the new screen is on, look at the area around the notch and slide the brightness down and back up to check for any uneven tint.

Back up first if the phone still works: Settings > your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now, on Wi-Fi. A computer backup works too.
Have your passcode ready. You'll want it to unlock and check the phone once the new screen is on.
Note what worked before the damage: Face ID, True Tone, the front camera, and touch in every corner. It helps separate old problems from new ones.
If the screen is too broken to back up, tell us. A screen replacement doesn't normally require erasing the phone.
